Angine de Poitrine
Dada Pythago-Cubist Mantra-Rock
Since 2023, the noble brothers Klek and Khn de Poitrine have been crafting a repertoire of cardboard anti-arena instrumental rock that, much like techno music, is built around a dynamic interplay of adding and subtracting sonic motifs in constant metamorphosis.
Using his agile toes and an electronic looping module, Khn records and harmonizes multiple layers of melodic ornamentation in real time, constantly switching between microtonal guitar and bass lines that intertwine through angular, chromatic quarter-tone phrases.
Within this vortex of repetitive cells, Klek’s dry-toned drumming behaves with the wisdom and restraint of a sherpa; the gradual and calculated addition of elements, or the stoic use of silence, guides the listener through the journey — making asymmetrical grooves dance, pushing intensity to its peak, or shifting the rhythmic anchor point at exactly the right moment.
Disciples of planet Earth’s rock deities, space-time voyagers Klek and Khn de Poitrine gaze in wonder at hot dogs, pyramids, and rock music in all its glorious excess. Asymmetrical and dissonant, Angine de Poitrine’s music makes hearts race and bodies move with ecstatic abandon. Through tight, pulsing drum grooves and intricate tangles of double-neck microtonal guitar, the band summons swirling vortices of hypnotic sound and vision. Since the release of Vol. 1 in 2024, Angine de Poitrine are in the eye of an ever-growing storm of enthusiasm from audiences, critics, and music industry’s main actors. After delivering electrifying performances at Quebec’s major festivals, including the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, Angine de Poitrine sets their sights on the prestigious Trans Musicales in Rennes. All these facts are strictly reserved to the humanoids: Angine de Poitrine are simply thrilled to play rock ’n’ roll.
